Exercise Physiology Treatment Program
Exercise rehabilitation is the cornerstone of shoulder rehabilitation. The primary goal of conservative management for shoulder conditions is to reduce pain and improve function. Exercise is widely used in the treatment and management of a variety of shoulder disorders. Based on your diagnosis and physical assessment an individualized program will be developed to treat your condition. Although each shoulder injury is unique, shoulder rehabilitation typically consist of four stages:
Regaining full range of motion and locating pain-relieving exercises
-
Exercises for specific local strengthening
-
Correcting whole-body biomechanical factors that are causing your pain
-
Return to activity, you will be guided through exercises that mimic everyday activities or movements required for your activities of daily living

The first stage of treatment begins with specific exercises to reestablish shoulder ranges of motion. As mobility and pain levels improve, exercise rehabilitation will progress to specific strengthening and mobility movements. Functional whole-body exercises are then prescribed to address any underlying biomechanical issues. Finally, you will be led through specific activities designed to mimic the demands of your pre-injured activities. The goal of your exercise physiology treatment is for you to return to full function and maintain pain-free shoulders into the future.
